Privacy Policy — Sundown Duel

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Sundown Duel is a game made by Pedro Pinto ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the game stores, what other players can see, and what we never collect. It applies to Sundown Duel on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

The short version: the game has no accounts of its own, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. It stores nothing about you unless you play online.

What stays on your device

These settings are saved on the device and never leave it:

Deleting the app deletes them.

What is stored when you play online

Online play is built on Apple's Game Center and on a public iCloud (CloudKit) database that belongs to this game. When you open the online part of the game, three things are written there so that other players can find you and challenge you:

The same three pieces of information are stored when you win an online match, so that the online tables of the Hall of Fame can be shown.

Other players can see this information. The list of players who are online, the challenges and the online Hall of Fame all show the nickname and the flag to everyone playing the game. Nothing else about you is shown. During a match, players can only send each other a small set of fixed emoji.

Tournaments, chat and statistics

If you join an online tournament, your player key, nickname and flag are stored with the tournament bracket, its results and any medals you win, and are shown to everyone who follows the tournament.

Tournaments have a chat. Messages you write are stored in the game's iCloud database with your nickname and are visible to the other players in that tournament. Every message passes through an offensive-language filter, and messages that fail it are never sent or stored. Chat messages are kept only while the tournament exists.

Tapping another player's message lets you mute that player (on your device only) or report the message. A report stores the message, its author's player key and nickname, and your player key, so that we can review it. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, objectionable messages are removed and repeat offenders are blocked. Reports are deleted once handled.

When you play alone against the computer or online, the game also keeps your statistics (matches played and won, accuracy, eagles and snake bites) on your device and, if you use Game Center, linked to your player key so that other players can see them. Game Center achievements are handled by Apple.

Presence records disappear on their own shortly after you stop playing. Records of online wins are kept for as long as the tables exist.

What the game never collects

Purchases

Cowboy outfits are in-app purchases handled entirely by the App Store. Payment happens between you and Apple: we never see or receive your payment details. The game asks the App Store which outfits you own, and stores nothing about your purchases on any server of ours. Restoring purchases on another device asks the App Store the same question.

Game Center and iCloud

Signing in to Game Center is optional and only needed for online play. Game Center and iCloud are Apple services, and Apple's handling of your data there is covered by Apple's own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

If you allow it, the game asks Game Center for your friends list, for two purposes only: marking which of the players currently online are friends of yours, and showing the Hall of Fame tables with just you and your friends. The list is not stored. To find the public entries of your friends, the game sends iCloud a one-way hash of their Game Center identifiers, never their names or the identifiers themselves.

Children

The game is not directed at young children. The only text players write is the filtered tournament chat described above. We do not knowingly collect information from children beyond what is described above: the nickname and country come from the Game Center account signed in on the device, and the chat messages are the ones they choose to write.

Your rights

You can stop everything described here by not playing online, or by signing out of Game Center on your device.

If you want the information linked to your player key removed — for example your nickname and country in the online Hall of Fame — write to the address below from the email account of your Apple ID, and it will be deleted. You may also ask what is stored about you. For players in the European Union, these are your rights of access and erasure under the GDPR.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address, with a new date at the top.
